The Benefits Of Getting Your Teen Involved In Sports
When thinking about putting your teenager into team sports the obvious benefits are physical fitness and fun. While these are both very important, there are some other pluses that are often forgotten by parents, and show the real great side of being on a team, whether it if football, rugby, basketball, or anything else.
Quite a bit of the benefits have to do with keeping your kids busy. It may sound overly simple, but keeping your kid’s mind focused on something, especially something as all consuming and intense as a sport, will curb their appetite for common teen dangers.
Statistics have shown that those who participate in team sports are less likely to use drugs, drink heavily, or engage in criminal activity. Girls who are involved in sports are significantly less likely to become pregnant during their teen years. Maintaining a minimum of average grades is also a common priority.
Part of this is due to the introduction of rigid rules and structure within an extracurricular activity. But it also has a lot to do with the fact that the sport is something important to them, and they are conscious of their chances of ruining future endeavors.
Teams sports is a great solution to a lot of parental fears.
