How To Backup Console Games On Your Computer
Now that gaming consoles have made the official switch to discs it has become easier than ever to back them up. You may be wondering why you would want to, and the answer is simple: discs are easily damaged. They are also expensive, and using a copy is preferable to using the real thing.
All you need is an image burning software (Nero or any other kind will do), a DVD burner, and some blank dual layered DVD-R’s. Make sure they are large enough to hold the file, but most should be usable without any problems.
Put the game disc into your DVD burner, and follow the directions in your software for a full backup. This usually takes around 20 to 40 minutes.
Once this is done, take out the game disc and replace it with a blank DVD-R. Follow the directions to burn the images to the disc. This will usually take another 20 to 40 minutes.
You’re done! This can be done with Xbox 360, Wii, or Playstation 2 & 3 games. You can also do it with DVD’s, and even old CD’s. It’s a great way to restore a classic without buying a new one, especially now that the world of entertainment has moved to mp3.
